We offer several sedation options depending on your needs: nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) for mild anxiety, oral conscious sedation (a prescription pill before your appointment), and IV (intravenous) sedation for more complex or long procedures.
Yes — when administered by trained dental professionals, sedation dentistry is very safe. We carefully review your medical history, monitor vital signs, and select the sedation method that’s most appropriate for you.
It depends on the level of sedation. With nitrous oxide, you will likely remember most of the treatment. With oral or IV sedation, many patients experience partial or complete amnesia — meaning they may remember very little or nothing at all.
Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, and mild headache. These usually subside within a few hours. In rare cases, there may be allergic reactions or breathing-related risks, but we take all necessary precautions to minimize them.
You may be asked to fast for several hours before your appointment (especially for oral or IV sedation). Arrange for someone to drive you home afterward — especially if you’re using oral or IV sedation. Share your full medical history, including medications you take, so we can choose the safest sedation option for you.
